What's cool about a 4 day weekend
is that you have time to finish things. For instance, we were able to set up dentist appointments for Carmen & Gabriel yesterday (the first in 2 or 3 years because of insurance issues). Also, David called about getting our roof replaced in the morning and by afternoon the roofing materials were in our yard.
He also repaired two of the toilets in the house.
(Here, Paloma was planning to use one: "Haaaaay!", she said to David.)
And I was happy to finish two projects: his mom's birthday present (printing photos from the past year--though I only got to Father's day) and a t-shirt project.
I have been working on a t-shirt for Spanish Immersion literally since January. It was designed then--in my head: I thought of a Got Milk design (¿tienes español?) with "¡si!" (short for Spanish Immersion) on the back. David suggested a glass of milk with a cookie being immersed. Perfect!
But then I had to fight with the t-shirt company I used to use over whether using the correct font was a copyright infringment (it's not--see why the Got Milk people love it here and a list of ways people have used it here)-- and then when I'd convinced them, there were two more disagreements about buying the font ($24) and they were not happy when I wanted to do our own artwork because theirs was a little too simplistic for what I had in mind. (They had spent hours on a design for us, they said.)
I had approval from the two elementary principals to send out the flier to sell the shirts to both schools that have SI. But the next thing I knew, it was too late in the spring to get the shirts done. And NOW, there are 3 schools--the oldest group has moved up to junior high.
So it will be a little more difficult to coordinate, but that's okay. (I asked David for the Spanish for "the more, the merrier", but he's not sure if this is an expression in Spanish or not. We discussed this with his parents, but they could only think of the opposite: Con menos burros, mas olotes--the more burros there are, the less corn you get.)
Anyway now I'm using a company that I heard about at Carmen's school--they have a good web site and decent prices and have been very helpful. So I was trying to send all of the files they need yesterday, and now all but one have gone through. (Grrr--undeliverable mail!)
Also yesterday, Zoe spent the day with us. I don't think we've kept her for more than an hour since she was an infant. But the kids had a great time together. The only pictures I took were when we went out to lunch. Which is another thing that is cool about a 4 day weekend--being off on a weekday!
I saw on the way to Women of Faith that there was a new Ali Baba location at 114 & MacArthur. We've been going to Ali Baba on lower Greenville since we were dating (11 years ago) for some of my favorite foods in the world--Shish Tawook (lemony grilled chicken kabobs), a buttery rice/vermicelli mix like none other, pita and Greek salad.
A couple of weeks after I saw the new location, David told me soon after that he'd been there for lunch from work, and that they had a buffet that featured everything from the Dallas location's menu, so I was jealous! Friday was the first weekday that we had the opportunity to check it out--so we did--
and it was YUMMY! Now I am full right now so I don't want to blog about food, but let's just say, if I did, it would probably affect you the way Amanda's post about Honeycrisp apples affected me! (I went out and bought some within the week! And she was right!)

Another cool thing? Getting caught up on the blog! I enjoyed reading David's guest post and seeing all the great photos of the beautiful babies you two make!
