Good Friday baby?
Last night Paloma said, "You can have the 'midifier, Mommy." She was feeling better and I was still stuffed up. I went to bed around 11:30 but David stayed up to watch Notre Dame win a game in March Madness. At 12:45 I got up to get some ice water and found him asleep in the recliner, so I told him to go to bed.
I awoke many times during the night as usual, but some of them this time were because Paloma was crying and talking in her crib.
I went to pat her on the back a couple of times, but David went the third time.
Around 4:45 I heard her again and went to check on her. I asked her if she wanted to come back to bed with me and she said yes. I was never able to go back to sleep, however, because I was having pretty strong contractions. I informed David at this point that I'd been awake since 4 or so with the contractions, so we started timing them (8 - 9 minutes apart) and talking about it being a good day to have a baby and how we still don't have a name chosen. This went on until around 6:30 when I called Mom & Dad to see about bringing the kids over there. Once we had that lined up and I was packing a bag (after folding and putting some laundry away) I decided to lie down a while and rest. I was able to fall asleep again for an hour or so, then moved on to a bath in case I don't get to take another for a while.
David got my suitcase out of the attic, cleared off our camera flash cards, and went to the store to get a few things on our list for the hospital. He had to be on a conference call at 9, and when he got back, we decided he should go to the office to get a few things done since things seem to have stalled.
The kids have watched too much tv this morning because I didn't want them to see me in pain. When I finally turned off the sound a while ago, Paloma said, "Why did you whisper it, Mommy?" (A good substitute if you don't know the word for "mute"!)
Now it's 11:40 and I have a bag packed at least. I have plenty to do, so it's not like I'm sitting around waiting, but if I'm not still, I am not good at tracking the contractions. It's frustrating not knowing if this is really happening or not! But maybe I can make my haircut appointment after all this afternoon...
