First doctor's appointment

Eva's first outing was to go to the doctor to check her bilirubin (and make sure she wasn't jaundiced).
David had the pleasure of filling out the never ending forms (weird considering they already have our other 3 kids as patients).
This was actually my first time to meet this doctor (who is also Mason, Maya & Zoe's doctor) since our former pediatrician retired last year. This one reminds me of Jano, who happened to call twice while we were there to ask David about the chances of his upcoming flights on American being cancelled. (Incidentally, David is starting to get a reputation at work--every time he takes off, disaster seems to strike. He says this used to happen when he worked in news, too.)
Because the nursing started to hurt around the time I got home from the hospital, I went to this office prepared to ask for help with this. With both Carmen and Paloma, I had experienced excruciating pain while breastfeeding. (I never quit nursing Carmen before Gabriel was born in part because I was afraid of this pain!) This pain lasted months with Carmen and no cause was ever diagnosed. With Paloma, I was told it was thrush and treated it with anti-fungal ointment and washing with water & vinegar, which worked within a few weeks.

I told Dr. W I was planning to go to the Breastfeeding Support Center next and he said he was on the board there and immediately got out his cell phone and called them. They didn't have any openings that day, so in order to keep me from buying every product sold by Walmart, he gave Eva a prescription for Nystatin even though he doesn't really believe thrush exists.

No time now to respond to THAT except to say that if MEN could experience thrush, they would be sure to find a cure or treatment quickly!
