Inclement Weather?
When the sirens started going off, David was sound asleep downstairs. I called for him but he didn't awaken, so I went to wake up the kids. I had to sit Gabriel up in his bed, but Carmen sat up fairly quickly. I took them to the top of the stairs and by that time David was on his way up and he got Paloma. This picture was taken after we'd emerged from the downstairs bathroom, after the sirens stopped sounding. Since the power was out, I thought we should stay together and not try to put everyone back in their rooms.
When the power came back on, we went back to bed.
I was SHOCKED, SHOCKED, I say, to find the next morning at 7:30 or so that the kids didn't have school because there was so much damage and the power was out at many schools.
Because everyone was home on our Inclement Weather day after the storm, it felt like a lazy Saturday. Not that I remember the last one of those (since soccer, we don't have lazy Saturdays anymore).Carmen took most of these pictures, including Paloma with one of her babies and the Boppy...
I took this one, though, of David using his FMLA leave to play Chutes & Ladders with the kids. This started because Gabe was upset about losing/ sliding a long way down. Mom says this is normal and it's good for him to learn how to lose now!
Paloma is very interested in the baby swing and gives all of her babies rides in it.
And David and I did the normal things we do...
while Carmen practiced taking a self-portrait for the myspace page she'll have someday...
