6 days old/ Stacy/ school

In the delivery room before Eva was born, I got a text message from my dear friend Stacy. Not that I could tell it was her since my cell phone doesn't support texting... but I knew she was going to be in town and the message said she was in Austin and would be here soon to see us.

I felt so lucky that she was here the week Eva was born because she moved to Alaska when I was pregnant with Gabriel.
Stacy was with David & me when Carmen was born, and I was at the hospital when her three kids were born.
Anyway she came to spend the day with us on Friday. Paloma went with Gigi to Paradise Pond and the cousins, so we were able to catch up and actually have real conversations with few interruptions! (David had to work that morning, the third day of his first week "off" that he had to go in!)

Unfortunately, I had to go to school that day, but Stacy drove me. We picked up Chili's (I was still craving that Carribean Chicken Salad) and headed there at lunch time.
I had to fill out some papers because I have the privilege of being a TELPAS rater (for students with limited English proficiency). I don't mind being a rater, but it's a burden because I have to take an online refresher course and recertify every year (which takes many hours) and there is no compensation for the time it takes out of the other things I need to do.
This is my friend Jan, the first one at school that I told I was pregnant, and the administrator I've worked for the longest (we worked at the same junior high and moved up to the high school at the same time).
And this is my friend Courtney, who's straight out of school but an awesome addition to our department and a sweet friend. (I know, she looks like a student--David asked me who was the student holding the baby when he saw this picture.) I saw a few other friends, but I was in a hurry because I had too much work to do, I was in pain and trying to hurry to get home to take more meds. (I was trying not to be in the hallways where students would see us because they would have mobbed us, but I still lucked into seeing some of my favorite kiddos: Asia, Kendra, Henry & Kristi all got to see the baby.)

We got home and hung out for a while; the kids were in entertainment mode, vying for Stacy's attention.
David made ribs for dinner and we said goodnight to Stacy.
