Each day is a little life.

On Sunday our day started at 5:30 A.M. I can't think of many things I'm willing to awaken for at that hour, but it was Father's day, and David had an event at work that he wanted us to come to. I didn't have the greatest attitude about it originally because #1 it was so early and #2 we'd already said we could make it to Sunday school that day for Eva's baby shower. Saturday night he said, "You don't have to," but I'd already told the kids we were going, and by that point I wanted to do it for him, anyway.
I dressed the kids in red, white & blue for the USO event (welcoming the troops) but also so we could go to church directly from there.
They had a decent breakfast buffet and we ate in the terminal.
Then we waited for the plane to arrive.
David said a few words as part of the program (introducing someone--David, can you finish this?). I wanted to videotape it, but in order to keep Eva quiet, I had to nurse her. The CEO made a crack about knowing we were there because she was crying loudly at that point and I was walking her to an exit. Meanwhile, Paloma was in rare form:
Paloma slid around on the floors, took her shoes off, pulled the blanket off of me when I was nursing Eva. Crazy girl.
When the troops came through, they only seemed to look to their right.
So some of these greeters came over and brought the kids to their side. That was a cool thing to do. They shook a lot of hands and said thanks to many, many soldiers. It's a great experience every time we do this.

Next, we went to church, and we were actually early. That's a first since Eva was born. Or maybe ever. Not really. But we're not running early for church very often!
It was supposed to be a baby shower for 4 babies born around Eva's birthday, but only one other baby, Nathan, made it.
Eva was all smiles
as long as someone was talking to her.
My friend Lisa offered to try to get a burp out of her. (Anyone is better at it than I am for some reason!)
I peeked in at Paloma before we went to the worship service. As usual, in a corner reading!
After church at Gigi's, Gabe showed off one of the toys he bought with the gift cards Allison gave him: a dancing Wall-E! Great fun.
Mom was serving a scrumptious meal on her new Fiestaware.
After lunch we let the kids swim. I didn't get on to David about his Blackberry since it was Father's day.

When he was ready to swim, David grabbed Gabriel and jumped in, but Gabe didn't appreciate that and David ended up sorry he bothered to get in the pool.
My dad wanted a photo-op with all of the grandkids. He certainly deserves proof of how much everyone enjoys the fantastic job he does making the pool so nice for everyone all summer.
He took Paloma for a swim, getting her away from her top step for a while.
Mom finished the kitchen work in time to hold Eva, and Zoe wanted in on lap time too.
Mason cracked me up showing us what Shamu did at SeaWorld.
After swimming we came in for dessert and presents.

Amy's turn...
The kids liked the gift sack that had a measuring tape on it.
Happy Father's Day, Dad/ Hidy! We love you!

Next, we went to Mesquite to see David's dad. We let Paloma get her nap in the car and recommended that the other kids take one, too, since we'd gotten up so early.
Benjamin wanted to hold Eva
and then Sofia did too.

I know it's Father's day, but Abuela was the one holding Eva to get these cute shots.
P did her best to entertain, wearing the doily from the table as a shawl (and I don't have a clue where she got the gloves).
We put on the Flintstones for the kids, but it didn't hold everyone's interest.
So next we tried the Backyardigans, and that only seemed to work on Paloma.
I don't know why I took it. But I love this shot.
Sofia is getting so big. And she's so pretty, too.
Maria called while we were there. Someone always calls when we're there! I guess because we're usually there on holidays.
The kids played in the back until someone was spotted on TOP of the shed.
Lety let Eva examine the pattern in the tablecloth. The contrast got her attention.
Paloma "helped" Abuelo open his gift from us.
Happy Father's Day, Abuelo! We love you!
