Each day is a little life.

Since my family was in San Antonio for half of the week and most of the weekend, we did not have our usual Sunday lunch plans (I am not going to say we didn't know what to do with ourselves, but it is kinda like that). Normally when this happens we try to see David's parents, but this time we had a graduation party for my cousin at 3, so we didn't have time to go to Mesquite and back.
So we took the opportunity to have lunch with some of our friends from church. Todd and Ann joined our church in the last couple of years.
They have three girls: Carson, Campbell and Chandler. Carson is Carmen's age, Campbell is between Gabriel and Paloma, and Chandler is 6 months older than Eva.
We all went to Buca di Beppo even though the Pope room was unavailable. We had a nice meal and surprisingly few interruptions (although Campbell and Paloma have a lot in common with teasing Gabe).
I felt like we could have talked the rest of the day, no problem. Todd and David have a lot in common, and we as couples do, too, I think.

After dinner, we went to Bethany's graduation party.

Debbie made a great slideshow of Bethany from birth to the present that looped during the party on their big screen tv.
My aunt (Sissy--her grandmother) gave her some jewelry that my uncle Pete had given her.
Debbie also had a table set up complete with bronzed baby shoes and graduation pictures. OK, so here is why Bethany graduating makes me feel old. When Debbie was pregnant with her, she was put on bed rest. They hired me to spend my Christmas break that year taking care of Rachel and Andrea, who were 4 and 2 at the time. I hated waking up early, but I loved spending my days with them.
Now Andrea goes to the university in Austin, and Bethany is going to be a hop, skip and a jump down the road in College Station.
Carmen, Gabe and the other kids made themselves at home, getting out the game of Life in one of the girls' rooms.
Then there was drama. Something about Carmen hurting Mason. And although she apologized, he kept saying, "You did it on purpose" and "I'm not going to be your cousin anymore", or something like that. Carmen did not know how to handle that. We have to work on her sensitivity. I can't imagine where she gets it. ;)
Everyone got a turn with Eva, and I got to eat with two hands for once!
Congratulations, Bethany! I'm so excited you're headed to Aggieland!
