On Tuesday, swim lessons found Gabriel practicing his backstroke.
Eva slept through the whole thing as usual.
After swim lessons we went to see Carmen at Challenger British soccer camp. We heard about it from some neighbors. What makes it British is that the coaches are college-aged soccer players from the UK who come here for the camps. They stay in campers' homes, so it's sort of an exchange-student feel for them.
Samantha takes a water break. This was her first time to play soccer, and the heat was tiring!
Margo and Carmen were put on different teams, thus the different colored shirts. After the first day, kids were assigned a color and a team, so Carmen had to wear royal blue every day. Margo's mom Laura is so thoughtful; she called and told us she was picking up a blue shirt for Carmen to wear while they were out at Michaels.
The reason we went to soccer camp that day even though Carmen would've had a ride home was that my brave friend Kara invited about a dozen moms from our church to her house for a pot-luck lunch and swim.
Ann is holding Chandler (her third girl) and Kara's holding Bowe (her third boy).
We were supposed to bring our favorite foods of the summer, so someone brought popsicles and ice cream sandwiches.
Of course those were a hit!
Owen didn't hesitate when I asked him to show me his blue tongue.
Eva was happy to see any and all smiling faces (this one is my friend Lisa).
All of the kids took turns climbing on and falling off of this hammerhead shark toy.
Ryan is not as sure about showing me his popsicle.

Carmen's friend Carson took Paloma for a splash away from the step where she stayed most of the time.
Eva took a little nap in the shade. She's wearing the bikini Amy gave us (that we gave Maya when she was an infant). It's so fun to pass these things down!
And in case the pool wasn't enough amusement, there was also a tire swing the kids could ride on. (He's related to Blackie, the tire swing at my mom & dad's house.)
After lunch, swimming, and a nap, it was time for Paloma's first-ever dance lesson.
It was chaotic when all of the moms were getting all of the 2 and 3 year olds ready for class to begin.
From left to right are her classmates Kirstin, cousin Zoe, Paloma, cousin Maya, another Zoe, and Reese. (Kirstin's mom Christine has been Amy's friend since elementary school; Reese's mom Colette was Amy's roommate in college, and the other Zoe is Colette's friend's daughter. So we know the whole class!) Amy wrote more about this on her blog. I missed it all because I was in the foyer with Evangelina because there was not enough room outside the classroom door for all of the parents watching. But I let my mom use my camera, so we have these shots.
I had a seat in the foyer, where I met these two adorable girls that wanted to see Eva.
When class was over, everyone emerged. They didn't tell me that they'd just decided to move the time of the class forward a half hour; that caused Paloma some grief over missing tap the following week, but we recovered eventually.
