Shock
Last night the kids asked to see video of Eva's birth, so David got everything hooked up to play some tape for them. I also wanted to see something: how long I actually pushed. I knew it was a very short amount of time; I only pushed 3 or 4 times, during one contraction, I think.
So the video was playing and I was back in labor and everyone in the room was joking around; David was shooting the monitor that showed my contractions in a nice pattern, and Angela was saying, "That's not a contraction, that's Angi scratching an itch."
And then there's a break in the video and there is Eva, all purple and being cleaned up by the nurses.
No video of birth, no audio.
I couldn't believe my eyes or ears.
Like the moment when Debra realizes Ray has taped a football game over their wedding video.
"What happened??? Where is the video???"
"I didn't shoot that--remember, I was next to you, holding your hand."
"I saw you setting up the tripod!"
"I couldn't find a good place to put it."
"Anywhere would have given us at least the audio!"
"You didn't say you wanted that."
I reminded him that I had audio of MASON's first cry, through the door.
24 hours later, I am still in shock at not having the video.
I changed hospitals and doctors to have that, and again, I don't have it.
Thankfully, I have photos since Amy shot them for us.
