Gabe's first field day
There were plenty of events for the pre-K and kindergarteners.
Sean and Jacob are the other 2 in this sack race (besides the big-kid helpers).
But mostly it was hard to stay with his friends; the kids wanted to do their own things at their own pace.
Gabe especially liked this game that requires filling up sponges and wringing them out to fill the container with water.
Gabe also enjoyed hitting the "frogs" with a tennis raquet. He did not enjoy getting hit in the head with a raquet a few minutes later, however.
This was supposed to be a jumping race, I think (that's something tied around his ankles).
And these are his friends Sean and Spencer doing a beach ball race.
Finally, a race with a soccer ball...
but since no other contestants were around, one of the big-kid helpers Logan (our neighbor) ran along with Gabe.
At the end of the day, Jacob's grandfather offered to take a picture of us. (I was wearing Carmen's field day shirt. Too bad they're not as cute as the Seuss ones!) What a sweet boy. It was fun to spend the morning just following him around, the two of us.
When it was time for the field day event to end, the teachers used a trick we see often at Gigi's house: give them popsicles! The sweaty kids were squished against the wall so closely that I was claustrophobic looking at them.
But popsicles make any discomfort disappear!
