Mothers' Day
"I love my mother, I do, I do . . ." Does anyone know this song? There's a recording of me singing it at about 4 years old. I thought of the song when I considered writing this post.
Despite how much I love my mother and also being a mother, Mother's Day is still hard for me if I think about it much. I have so much to be thankful for, however, and when we celebrate with all of the mothers and grandmothers in the family, the day is so busy that there's really not much time for thoughtful reflection.
Apparently we celebrated by taking pictures!
This started on the driveway at Mom & Dad's.
A good shot of Allison with Bill, Zoe & Lauren (hard to catch them all in the same place, but easier to get a good photo of only 4 people).
Amy enjoying Maya...
We made Gigi a scrapbook with pictures of all of the grandkids with her in it. What she wanted/ wants for Mother's Day is an outing with just her daughters, but we haven't gotten around to planning it yet. We haven't forgotten, Mom. Remember, last year you got the photo of us you wanted in August.
OK so the photo shoot continued later in Gigi's front yard.
I couldn't decide which of these pictures I liked the best.
I'm amazed that there are several good ones.
We also tried a group shot with Hidy in the front yard
with less success than earlier shots, and than last year, but still not bad.
As you can see, Paloma still has a hard time keeping her hands off Eva.
And at David's mom's house, our visit started with an iChat with some of our California relatives.
Happy Mothers' Day to all of the wonderful mothers in our lives!
