When Gigi was hurt
On Friday we went to swim at Gigi’s house.
No, Paloma is not a Pepper. But she takes every opportunity to try my drinks if I leave them sitting around. Thankfully, this was an empty can when she got a hold of it.
Anyway, Zoe was asleep when we got there, but when she awoke, she wanted to swim, too. At this point, Mom told me how she had slipped and fallen that morning on a walk with Zoe, and that she had landed on her wrist.
By this time, it had been several hours, and she was in more pain, not less. So when Dad got home, I persuaded him to take her to the doctor. In order to make that happen, we had to get a hold of Allison to pick up Zoe and Amy to divert them to our house. (Mom & Dad were going to babysit Mason & Maya while they went out for their anniversary. We volunteered to take the kids instead. We ordered the traditional Friday night pizza to our house, but we hadn’t done so in years, so that took more research than you’d imagine. Anyway Allison, Zoe, Lauren & Devin ended up at our house, and when Amy & Brian arrived, Brian didn’t feel well, so we sent him home and Amy & the kids stayed for pizza. During pizza, Mom & Dad called to tell us the good news: her wrist was not broken. They had given her a Rx for the pain, though. After dinner, when the kids started bouncing off the walls (or the furniture, as the case may be),
we decided it was time for a walk in our neighborhood.
Yes, Maya is strolling a coffee can.
Paloma took her chance to try out Gabe's new cycle. A little later, Mom & Dad arrived.
While everyone was loading up to leave, we noticed that our heavy-laden pear tree had been picked clean where it faces the sidewalk. We had been waiting for the pears to get bigger and ripen, but since birds, bugs & people were taking them, we decided it was time for harvest. David, the admittedly-overprotective parent himself, put the kids on top of his car to pick some of the pears.
